Φ2500 Large-Diameter Anti-Corrosion Spiral Welded Steel Pipe Export Project Completed in Just 15 Days 01 Project Background This overseas pilot project focuses on the research and development of advanced energy storage technologies under challenging environmental conditions. The project requires high standards of manufacturing precision, structural strength, and corrosion resistance for its supporting steel structures and piping systems, placing strict demands on customized fabrication and quality control. 02 Customized Supply Scope In late August 2026, Cangzhou Youcheng Pipeline Technology Co., Ltd. formally signed the project contract and undertook the customized fabrication of Φ2500 large-diameter anti-corrosion spiral welded steel pipes and associated steel structural components for the project. The Q355C steel pipes and components were fabricated in depth according to the client’s engineering drawings, involving the fabrication and welding of structural supports, reinforcing stiffeners, flanges, and blind plates. The scope also covered external anti-corrosion coating, customized 316L stainless steel nameplates, and protective measures for export transportation.

Fabrication and Shipment of Finished Products Unlike conventional spiral steel pipe (SSAW) supply projects, this assembly is designed for subsea application at a depth of approximately 100 meters, imposing extremely stringent requirements on structural pressure resistance, weld quality, and anti-corrosion performance. Its manufacturing and inspection standards approach those applied to pressure vessels. We developed a dedicated Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) for this order. The client appointed SGS, an independent third-party inspection agency, to carry out on-site ultrasonic testing of the spiral welds and fillet welds, together with full dimensional measurements of the spiral steel pipes, flanges, blind plates, and lifting lugs. 03 Technical Cooperation & Customer Recognition This project tested not only manufacturing capability, but also a supplier’s ability to understand and execute complex technical requirements. In the early stages, Youcheng Pipeline worked closely with the client’s technical representatives on design drawings, structural details, and welding procedures, and efficiently produced 3D models and the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), providing a clear basis for subsequent manufacturing and end-to-end quality control. During project execution, representatives of the overseas project owner traveled to China to inspect the first completed component on site, and the first article successfully passed the client’s inspection. Meanwhile, SGS maintained on-site supervision throughout, ensuring that all work was carried out in accordance with the client’s technical requirements and inspection plan.

Strict Supervision and Inspection at Every Step 04 Project Challenges: Complex Fabrication and Rigorous Inspection Under a 15-Day Deadline All fabrication had to be completed within 15 days, with complex welding alone accounting for more than ten days. This was the greatest challenge of the project. The scope covered steel plate preparation, Φ2500 large-diameter anti-corrosion spiral steel pipe manufacturing, welding of support structures, flanges, blind plates, and a large number of reinforcing stiffeners, followed by external anti-corrosion coating — all of which had to be completed on schedule. The real constraint on progress was not the pipe manufacturing itself, but the heavy structural welding workload and the strict requirement that all pipes and fittings undergo non-destructive testing as specified for the project. To secure the schedule, Youcheng Pipeline added fabrication workstations, optimized welding and inspection sequences, and organized multiple workstreams to proceed in parallel, with SGS providing full-time on-site supervision. The project team adhered to the principle of “fabricate one, inspect one,” advancing production while ensuring quality. In the end, all fabrication was delivered on schedule and every required inspection was successfully passed.

After fabrication and inspection were completed, the project was shipped by breakbulk vessel. As required, Youcheng Pipeline applied protective felt wrapping to both ends of the products and coordinated vessel schedules and loading arrangements with the client. At present, the batch of Φ2500 large-diameter anti-corrosion spiral steel pipes and customized components has been loaded on board and entered the international ocean freight stage.
