Timor-Leste marine piling — 5,000 m heavy-wall FBE spiral pipe
Youcheng Pipeline Export Project | 5,000 Meters of Heavy-Wall FBE Spiral Steel Pipes Successfully Shipped to Timor-Leste

On October 19, 2026, Youcheng Pipeline successfully dispatched a shipment of steel pipes for an offshore piling project in Timor-Leste. The project involved the supply of Φ508 and Φ813 heavy-wall spiral steel pipes (SSAW) with external fusion-bonded epoxy (FBE) anti-corrosion coating. From technical specification confirmation and manufacturing to quality inspection, loading, and shipment, Youcheng Pipeline carried out each stage in accordance with the project requirements, successfully fulfilling its supply obligations. 01 Project Initiation | Technical Specification Confirmation & Contract Signing In late July 2026, Youcheng Pipeline officially signed a steel pipe supply contract for an offshore piling project in Timor-Leste. The project involved a total of 5,000 meters of heavy-wall FBE spiral steel pipes, with a contractual delivery period of 55 days. During the initial project discussions, the customer specified spiral steel pipes conforming to ASTM A252 Grade 2. Considering the project's intended application, Youcheng submitted Q235B material documentation and discussed its mechanical properties and suitability as an alternative material with the customer. Following a joint review and confirmation of the technical documentation, the customer approved Youcheng's proposed Q235B material solution, establishing a clear technical basis for subsequent manufacturing and smooth project execution.

Customer visit to the spiral steel pipe production line 02 Manufacturing | Strict Quality Control, Finished Pipes Completed in 45 Days Following contract signing, Youcheng promptly arranged raw material preparation and production scheduling. As the pipes were intended for marine piling applications, the customer set clear requirements for wall thickness, weld quality, and anti-corrosion coating. Throughout production, Youcheng maintained strict dimensional control to meet the requirement of no negative wall-thickness tolerance, and every pipe underwent X-ray radiographic testing (RT) to ensure rigorous weld quality control.

Physical measurement of pipe diameter and wall thickness on finished products In the external anti-corrosion stage, this batch of pipes was coated using the fusion-bonded epoxy (FBE) powder coating process. The customer set strict requirements for both coating thickness and coverage, specifically requiring full-length coating, including the beveled pipe ends. Youcheng organized the coating work in accordance with the confirmed technical requirements, with particular attention to coating application and quality control on both the pipe body and the pipe ends.

Monitoring of anti-corrosion coating thickness Before shipment, the customer's representatives visited Youcheng Pipeline's manufacturing facility to conduct a pre-shipment inspection of the heavy-wall FBE spiral steel pipes destined for Timor-Leste. The inspection went beyond a visual examination of the finished products. The customer showed keen interest in the manufacturing process and engaged in in-depth technical discussions with the on-site team. Topics included why a twin-wire configuration is used in double-sided submerged arc welding (DSAW), how adequate weld penetration is ensured in heavy-wall pipes, how pipe-end bevels are machined with precise dimensional control, and how the steel surface is prepared before FBE coating. Youcheng Pipeline's technical team explained the relevant process principles and quality control measures one by one, drawing on the actual production workflow.

Professional explanations in response to the customer's questions During the physical inspection, the customer carried out sampling checks on both the Φ508 and Φ813 pipes, verifying the actual wall thickness with measuring instruments and examining the FBE coating process and finished coating quality to ensure compliance with the technical requirements agreed upon by both parties. Following the on-site technical exchanges and sample inspections, steel pipes of both sizes successfully passed the customer's acceptance inspection. The customer completed the formal inspection sign-off, officially authorizing the products for release and shipment.

Customer's on-site acceptance inspection prior to delivery For export projects, "inspection first, approval second, and shipment last" is not only a matter of strictly fulfilling contractual requirements, but also a direct verification of manufacturing quality by the customer. 04 Loading & Shipment | Careful Protection to Ensure Product Quality During Transportation After the finished pipes came off the production line, the project moved into transportation planning and vessel scheduling. In fact, as early as the quotation stage, Youcheng's sales team had prepared four versions of the transportation plan to accommodate the customer's logistics requirements, repeatedly reviewing and adjusting the transport mode, loading arrangements, and associated costs to best fit the project's actual needs. During actual loading, Youcheng paid particular attention to protecting the external anti-corrosion coating of the spiral steel pipes. Lifting slings were used for hoisting, straw mats were laid on the load-bearing areas of the vehicles, and the side stakes were wrapped with felt to minimize direct contact between the pipes and hard components. In addition, protective hemp ropes were secured around the pipe exteriors, protective caps were fitted to the pipe ends, and shipping marks were attached to the lifting slings to facilitate cargo identification during subsequent handling.

Protective measures for coated steel pipes during loading and shipment These measures were designed to minimize impact, abrasion, and compression damage during lifting, loading, and transportation, helping preserve the integrity of the finished anti-corrosion coating. Following transportation arrangements and vessel scheduling, the shipment of coated spiral steel pipes was successfully dispatched for Timor-Leste on October 19.

Heavy-wall coated spiral steel pipes loaded and ready for dispatch 05 Behind the Partnership | From a Brief Wait to Lasting Trust Looking back on the project, one experience stood out beyond manufacturing and delivery. During production, Youcheng's sales representative regularly reported progress and shared on-site photographs of the steel pipes with the customer. However, after one such update, several days passed without any reply. For an export order already in production, the unexpected silence naturally caused some concern. Despite these concerns, Youcheng did not alter its production plan, but continued advancing all work in accordance with the contract. For the customer, entrusting a supplier with such a batch of customized steel pipes required full confidence; for Youcheng, the most practical way to honor that trust was to fulfill its commitments conscientiously and execute every step of the project properly. Finished heavy-wall coated spiral steel pipes and loading operations Trust is more than a promise. It is demonstrated by consistently doing what was agreed, from contract signing through to shipment. The successful shipment of steel pipes for this marine piling project in Timor-Leste is a practical demonstration of Youcheng Pipeline's manufacturing capabilities, quality management, and delivery organization. Moving forward, Youcheng will continue to provide reliable steel pipe products and supporting services for engineering projects in China and overseas, backed by professional products, rigorous production management, and a pragmatic, customer-focused service approach.
