Project Background
The Jiuligang Water Plant expansion in Yuan'an County is a key livelihood project and an important component of the Rural Water Supply Plan of Yuan'an County, Yichang, Hubei Province, as well as part of the province-wide program to address weak links and upgrade rural drinking water facilities. Located on the top of Yunpanling Hill in Jiuligang Village, Yangping Town, the plant covers an area of about 37 mu with a total investment of RMB 150 million. Its water is drawn from the Ju River, collected through the east main canal below the Madu River dam and the interconnected supply network, and delivered to residents of Yangping Town and Jiuxian Town in Yuan'an County. The main construction scope includes the water plant, intake pump stations, and water supply networks. It is a Class I centralized water supply project, designed for a 10-year flood and checked against a 30-year flood. Through a smart water plant management platform, the project raises the plant's level of digitalization and intelligent operation, enabling 'minimal-staff or unmanned' operation. Once completed, the project will cover 2 townships and 28 villages with a designed served population of 88,000, consolidating 39 existing small water plants and increasing the served population 25-fold, significantly improving the level of water supply security for both urban and rural residents. The expansion will further strengthen drought resilience and drinking water security, ensure a continuous and stable water supply to meet residents' needs, and help build the integrated urban-rural water supply pattern of 'one axis, two wings'. The water distribution network consists of intake mains, main lines, and village branch networks, totaling about 120 km with a maximum head difference of about 120 meters — the longest transmission and distribution network with the largest head in Yuan'an County.
About Youcheng Pipeline's Supply
The anti-corrosion pipes supplied for this project are external-PE, internal-EP coated steel pipes in DN300/DN400/DN600/DN700, with the total quantity of coated anti-corrosion steel pipes supplied by Youcheng Pipeline reaching approximately 15,000 meters. After completion and trial operation in September 2024, the project was officially put into full operation. The water plant is committed to becoming a model of rural water supply in hilly areas. Through scientific planning and careful construction, it has brought residents of Yangping and Jiuxian towns along the Ju River a major transformation from 'having water to drink' to 'having quality drinking water'.
